About

The Baobab, often called the “Tree of Life,” is a massive, long-living tree native to sub-Saharan Africa. Its hard-shelled fruit contains dry, tangy pulp that naturally dehydrates inside. The pulp is highly nutritious and used in drinks, powders, and traditional medicine.

Native Countries

Found across Senegal, Sudan, Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mali, and Madagascar. Baobabs thrive in dry savannas and store water in their thick trunks, allowing survival during drought.

How to Plant

  1. Soak seeds in hot water for 24 hours to soften the shell.
  2. Scarify gently with sandpaper for faster germination.
  3. Plant 2–3 cm deep in sandy, well-draining soil.
  4. Keep soil moist until germination (2–6 weeks).
  5. Place in full sunlight; once established, the tree needs little water.

🍲 How to Cook / Use

Baobab Pulp: naturally dry and tangy — eaten raw, mixed into drinks, or used in porridge.
Powder: made from dried pulp, used in smoothies, yogurt, and baked goods.

Refreshing Baobab Juice Recipe

  1. Break open the baobab fruit and remove the dry pulp.
  2. Soak pulp pieces in cool water for 15–30 minutes.
  3. Stir well until pulp dissolves, then strain out seeds and fibers.
  4. Add honey or sugar to taste, plus a dash of ginger or mint (optional).
  5. Serve chilled over ice — a creamy, citrus-like superfruit drink!

Tip: You can also mix the pulp powder into smoothies or sprinkle it on cereal for extra Vitamin C and fiber.
